At the beginning of the 90s when rock music had one of it´s historical peak, Johannes Wessels and his former partner Joe Rambock came up with the idea for one day rock festival series taking place all over Germany.
The idea was to bring the best rockmusic of the time to the audience and the areas were the people live instead of having them travel to festivals far away, sometimes out in the sticks.
This was the birth of the idea for the GO BANG! Festival. It was an annual one day rock festival series starting in 1992 and was running very successfully through to 1997. And so the GO BANG! Festival welcomed rock greats like David Bowie, The Prodigy, Iggy Pop, Pearl Jam and Rage Against The Machine on its stages. It was a festival series of 3-5 festivals in Germany and has taken place in Hamburg, Berlin, Bremen, Munich, Leipzig, Essen, Offenbach and Lübeck.
